Dr. Doug Reed receives R01 grant

Doug Reed received the official notification of award for an R01 grant entitled “Correlates of Vaccine-Induced, Tunable-Protection in an Outbred Tularemia Model”. Doug is one of three PIs on the grant with Dr. Karsten Hazlett at Albany Medical College and Dr. Eileen Barry at the University of Maryland-Baltimore. This grant will focus on using live attenuated tularemia strains as vaccines that protect against pneumonic tularemia. The choice of vaccine, dose, route and schedule all impact the level of protection seen in rabbits. Using this ‘tunable’ model, they will determine immune correlates of protection that could be used in developing and testing a safe, effective tularemia vaccine.
